“Help me to do it by myself!” — This heartfelt desire expressed by the young child was a key discovery in Dr. Maria Montessori’s research. She recognized the child’s innate yearning for independence — and the importance of offering the right amount and right type of support to nurture that independence.

Montessori-trained teachers are specially equipped to respond to this need, creating environments and interactions that foster confidence, autonomy, and self-discovery.

Fostering Independence Through Meaningful Activities

Our toddler environment is carefully designed to engage the child’s learning spirit, offering a rich variety of experiences that support the natural process of becoming independent. Through observation, exploration, and practice, toddlers master new skills and develop confidence in their own abilities.

Some key activities include:

  • Dressing and managing personal hygiene
  • Preparing simple snacks
  • Pouring, spooning, and washing
  • Sweeping, mopping, and dusting
  • Cutting, sewing, and polishing
  • Building vocabulary and early reading
  • Exploring sensory experiences: shapes, sizes, smells, textures, and sounds
  • Singing, painting, brushing, and flower arranging

These activities not only refine motor skills and coordination but also build a sense of purpose, belonging, and achievement in each child.

Partnering with Parents

We believe that a seamless connection between the home and school environments is essential to a child’s success. That’s why we work closely with parents to support the child’s development both in the classroom and at home.

Some of the ways we collaborate with families include:

  • Periodic seminars and workshops for parents
  • Optional home visits by the Toddler Directress to offer personalized guidance on setting up a Montessori-friendly home environment

Our ultimate goal is to help each child become a “normalized child” — a child who is calm, focused, self-directed, and joyfully engaged in learning. You can learn more about this concept by exploring our Montessori FAQ, where we explain the process and significance of normalization in early childhood development.
